The Poodle comes in three recognizable sizes,
Standard, Miniature and Toy. It is believed that the Standard Poodle was the
original; with the Mini and Toy sizes following not long after the breed was
established.
Poodles are highly regarded all over the world. They are a particular favorite of pet owners and exhibitors alike due to their intelligent, animated personalities and elegant dignity.
Poodles are generally good choices as family companions because they are not usually a snappy dog, or one that is prone to be overly aggressive in defending hearth and home. That is not to say that Poodles are not excellent “watch dogs,” however they are more apt to sound the alarm and let you deal with it than they are to throw themselves at intruders and threaten them with bodily harm.
Poodles can be trained to do just about anything because they are so alert and intelligent and we think that they seem to enjoy performing. But if their owner is not into that sort of thing, the Poodle is quite content to just sit on his owner’s lap and beg munchies!
The Poodle coat can be challenging if left unclipped so we always recommend keeping it short and tidy when puppies are placed in their new homes. Litter box training is another great way to minimize the work of owning one of these little dogs, which is a bonus for senior citizens who are at risk in winter weather when walking their pet.
We do not breed the Standard size Poodles. Our interests are predominantly in the Miniatures, which we think are absolutely brilliant dogs and the Toys, which are heart stealers due to their petite stature. We do our best to avoid breeding puppies that are too extreme in size (tiny) because we have found them to have much more risk of seizure problems (low blood sugar).
The main focus of our breeding program is to bring healthy, strong babies into this world who will be able to bless a family with years of love and enjoyment. As with all of our dogs, our Poodle puppies are placed as family pets only and come with a Limited Two Year Health Warranty. We expect them to live inside the home with their new families and place them with the expectation that the families we choose will commit to providing the puppy with a responsible, permanent home for life.
