Japanese
Chin
This is an adorable toy spaniel whose origins trace back to the aristocratic dogs that adorned the laps of Chinese royalty. The modern Chins continue to exhibit that regal bearing, yet are not afraid to let go and be a “Play Baby”, should the opportunity to do so arise.
This breed is well suited to just about any environment, from Hollywood mansions to sprawling suburbs to family farms. They adjust well to other members of the family, regardless of age or species.
You may notice that the Japanese Chin looks very similar as a puppy to photos you may have seen of Shih Tzu puppies. This is because the Chin is distinctively oriental in appearance as is the Shih Tzu, Pekinese, Pug, etc.
The coat care is much different though from other Orientals such as the Shih Tzu and the Pekinese, who have an even more profuse coat, which requires meticulous grooming to keep the dog in its full glory or requires compromising and limiting the length of coat to a puppy cut.
The white on the Japanese Chin generally stays “ice white,” which gives this little dog it’s flashy appearance and the silky, elegant coat is not prone to matting. A quick run through with a brush once a week will keep your Japanese Chin looking sharp and attractive.
The Japanese Chin
is a wonderful addition to any family looking for a clean dog with a bright,
fun-loving personality! These are ideal companion dogs, easy to train and
very affectionate. The Chin is sensitive and a natural charmer, bound to endear
himself to any- one fortunate enough to be owned by one.
We highly recommend the NuVet Plus Vitamins and encourage our clients to consider them for their new family member!
